Dear Mr. Cass,

My name is Chris Michalowski and I am the Director of Tennis at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Traverse City, Michigan.  I am writing to apply for the position of Director of Tennis at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona.

I am passionate,  I am an innovator and I built a nationally recognized program from the ground up.

This is exactly why I feel I have the qualifications required for the Director of Tennis position at the USTA National Campus.

You will see from the beginning of my career, from the very beginnings as a PTM student, I have
strived to be the best I can be everyday.  You will also see that I have continued this drive for excellence throughout my whole career.

I try to follow what I tell my students all the time, "When you are up 5-0 in the set, remember how you got there and keep doing that."
It's not time to play it safe or rest on what I have done, but to keep doing the things that bring success.

My goal in Traverse City has been to "Develop and Promote the Growth of Tennis."  This may sound familiar.  I have done this by:

  • Turning a hotel amenity into a nationally recognized program
  • Developing one of the largest after school programs in the country.
  • Pioneering 10 and Under Tennis from the start as a USTA national pilot site.
  • Creating a unique sports academy which lines up with the Long Term Athletic Development model.
  • Creating special events by bringing in top players and teaching professionals through innovative packages.
  • Training a staff  through written SOP manuals to ensure efficiency and success.

Recently, I have developed a site called the Realtennis Network.  My goal has been to provide free quality online tennis instruction where players are learning from me and top professionals from around the world.

Because of the  knowledge I have gained the through my efforts with RTN, I feel that I would efficiently be able to:

  • Give players the specific information they are looking for.
  • Create trust with people I have never met before.
  • Follow up in order to continue a unique relationship.
  • Creating a desire to visit because of the exact camp, clinic or area of their game they are specifically interested in.
  • Provide quality tennis instruction at the highest levels, giving them a reason to want to come back.

As a Director of Tennis at the biggest resort in the Midwest, I understand the importance of giving the guest an experience so when they leave, they will want to come back.

I know that with my passion, knowledge, experience and the help of a well-trained professional staff, I can not only give players a desire to visit, but also create a strong desire to return.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the Director of Tennis position and how I could incorporate my skills in with your plans.

I feel I would  be an integral part of USTA National Campus in Lake Nona.

Sincerely,

Chris, Michalowski, USPTA/USTA HP
